Should I Fix Up Home or Sell It As Is

Should I remodel my kitchen or bathroom to sell my house? Welcome to Burning Questions I'm Mark and that is your burning question for today

[Music] It seems lately I'm being asked to remodel customers homes before they put their houses on the market so here are some considerations whether you should or should not remodel before selling your home Let's start with how soon are you going to put your house on the market? Are we talking one year, five years, or even ten years? If we're talking one year what I generally like to recommend is just freshening up areas by painting high-traffic traffic areas, doors and trim, changing out hardware on the doors and cabinets Also you might want to consider replacing areas such as faucets and toilets and finally I recommend in some cases countertops and light fixture replacement I find sometimes if people are told to spend tens of thousands of dollars to sell their home and they forget that when they buy their next home that they're moving into they'll probably have to do some remodeling to that homes kitchen or bathroom They could use that money to invest and enjoy in their new homes

If you think you're going to be selling your home in the next five to ten years, then it makes more sense to do a complete bathroom and/or kitchen remodel in the current home of yours because you at least you get a chance to enjoy it while you're living there I find that in my experience, homes that are priced properly in the marketplace, well-taken care of and clean seemed to sell the quickest I firmly believe that it's your due diligence to find the best real estate agent in your market to help you with that sale of your home a true professional will be a great asset when it comes to selling your home Thanks again for joining us Send in your Burning Questions and I'll put them out
