If you dream of a “master on the main” or removing tired wallpaper, this is the home to check out. The remodeled treasure is one of the outstanding homes featured in the 46th Annual Dunwoody Home Tour scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 3, from 9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. The home tour, sponsored by the Dunwoody Woman’s Club, is a much anticipated event in the community.
A fresh coat of paint over red brick and stucco gives this handsome early nineties home a more modern look. Neutral paint, refinished flooring, and intricate jute stair carpeting have spruced up the entry hall. Gone is the dated wallpaper.
The master bedroom, just off the main entry, features plush gray carpeting and neutral elements that contrast nicely to the dark wood bedroom suite. Attention to safety was given in remodeling the adjoining master spa bathroom. The flooring is a glistening white, but slip-proof, basket-weave tile.
Oriental rugs underpin the two-story living room at the back of the home and adjoining dining room where a large, black lacquer floor screen, brought home from a trip abroad, carries out the theme. White cabinets, new counter tops, trench sink, and a stove coveted by chefs have transformed the kitchen. Columns leading off the kitchen to a seating area were ripped out, opening the room for broader appeal. Shiplap added to the ceiling further brightens the space. A spacious deck off this sitting room offers comfort and a peek at a well-manicured yard.
Two bedrooms with a Jack-and-Jill bathroom offer privacy upstairs to visiting grandchildren. Each is lovingly decorated…white furniture and pink chenille spreads for young ladies, pine furniture and red plaid quilting for young lads. A third upstairs room is a well-equipped office with a boating motif.
Floral arrangements by Fresh Flowers at Costco add zip to the home’s crisp lines.
This year’s tour will also feature two raffles: one for an exclusive custom crafted artistic bowl by local artisan Dr. David Dalrymple and another for a shopping spree from Lauderhills Fine Jewelry. Raffles tickets can be purchased on tour day with cash, check or credit card.
Home tour tickets are $30 in advance and $35 on the day of the tour. Tickets are available from any member of the Dunwoody Woman’s Club or online at the following link:
