NORWAY, Mich. (WLUC) – The shows, the races, and the carnival – it’s all getting set up again. That must mean that the Dickinson County Fair is right around the corner.
“We have horse shows, we have dog shows,” Fair Board Member, Barbara Bedard, told TV6 News. “We have exhibits on handicraft, painting, embroidering, and crocheting. We have an exhibit hall full of vendors who have all kinds of new things for you to see.”
Of course the best part of any fair is the food, which you can expect to see plenty of this weekend.
“Any kind of food that you can think about is here,” Bedard said. “We have foods that are not available locally most of the year. We have a vendor that has Thai food, we have oriental food, we have Greek food, and we have Indian tacos. This year have a lady selling deep fried cupcakes.”
While a lot of things might be repeats from years past, fair goers may notice some changes to the appearance of the buildings.
“This year we finished remodeling the new office building,” Board President, John Degenaer, said. “We put in a Sheriff’s Department Office for during the fair. Also we built a new goat barn.”
The fair board says they try to update at least one thing each year, and next year’s updates will be starting immediately after the fair comes to an end on Monday.
“As soon as the fair is completed, we are going to finish the Grand project,” Degenaer added. “We started on the Grand project already, we did our pillars replacements. Now we are going into the bathrooms. We are going to remodel the entire bathrooms, men and women’s bathroom.”
All the excitement of the fair and the carnival kicks off Thursday at 4:00 local time at the Norway Fairgrounds. You can buy your tickets online or at the gate.
