Bathroom remodels are some of the most popular home improvement projects and for good reason have a great return on investment.
In fact, an Angie’s List contractor survey revealed homeowners will spend handsomely on better bathrooms because much of the cost comes back to them on resale.

â€śRemodeling bathrooms is a popular home improvement project, but theyâ€™re not cheap. They can cost anywhere from 10- to 15-thousand dollars.â€ť says Angie Hicks, Angie’s List Founder.Â
People are pulling out their ceramic tile in favor of cultured marble panels, thick-glass shower doors and sleek fixtures. They want beautiful bathrooms, but they don’t want to constantly maintain them.
â€śTheyâ€™re tired of fighting the grout lines. Theyâ€™re tired of having to re-caulk. Maybe they donâ€™t have a lot of people in their family members that squeegee a lot. So by that maintenance standard, they want something thatâ€™s easier to clean.” says Mary Wright of Economy Plumbing Supply.Â
â€śConsumers are looking for less work around the house, especially when cleaning their bathrooms, so the trend remodelers are seeing is more walk-in showers with frameless doors because theyâ€™re just easier to maintain.â€ť, says Angie Hicks
They also look very modern and open. White and natural colors with organic undertones are popular in bathrooms and creating more storage, weather under the sinksÂ or additional cabnitary helps create a uncluttered and serene atmosphere.Â
â€śPeople really like having that open feel. They donâ€™t like, necessarily, feeling so built-in, so compartmentalized in the space any longer. Theyâ€™re trying to more or less to take down the walls, have a much more spa feel.â€ť says Mary Wright.
High-Tech Toilets continue to rise in popularity. As for fixtures brass and gold-tones are making a comeback.Â
One contractor says his average remodeling project now starts at $20,000, up from a long-time norm of $15,000. Angie Warns not to overspend and thus price yourself out of the neighborhood when you go to sell.
