Homearama is back August 18th through the 26th, with a parade of homes in WaterSong in Penfield. Rochester Democrat and Chronicle
The popular showcase of new homes that is Homearama is back after a one-year hiatus. Homearama 2018 will be held at the WaterSong development off Five Mile Line Road Aug. 18 through Aug. 26 in the Town of Penfield.
Sponsored by the Rochester Home Builders’ Association along with other business partners, there will be six homes by five area builders on the tour.
Homearama offers home and decor fans an opportunity to view the latest and greatest when it comes to new-build design. The homes are decorated by area designers featuring furnishings from local retailers.
At Antetomaso Construction’s two-story Colonial-style home, a casual rustic look is what’s in place. The home is painted in a neutral “greige” tone, a gray beige that’s currently trending. Furnishings from At Home are featured at the new build.Â
Joe Sortino of Sortino Properties is highlighting outdoor living in his new build home that has already been sold. The lanai is a popular way to relax and extends the living room outdoors.
It’s not only a home showcase, but a destination event as well, said Rick Herman, CEO of the home builders’ association. The eight-day event will feature demonstrations, wine tastings and an exhibit tent with more than two dozen vendors to help with home projects.
Homes featured in the showcase start at $450,000, Herman said.
Homearama had been a summer tradition presented annually for more than three decades but is now more often held every other year.  The changing times have transformed the home-building industry; making it more challenging to maintain Homearama as an annual event, Herman said. Â
The popular event regularly draws large crowds eager to get home-design and remodeling inspiration. Â
“When you come to Homearama, you’ll have the opportunity to tour every single room — all beautifully decorated,” Herman said. “You’ll find hundreds, if not thousands, of new ideas that you can take away with you for your next home improvement or remodeling project.” Â
