Hi, I'm Tim Gipson and I'm going to talk to you about how to measure for carpet tiles Now if you have just a regular, square or rectangular type of room, it's pretty simple

What we want to do is we want to get the width of the room and we want to get the length of the room So you'll need a tape measure, and what we want to do is we want to measure from baseboard to baseboard And if you got furniture, it makes a little more challenging, but if you can make your measurements without moving things around, then you're in good shape You know what ya want to do, is you want to just make sure your tape measure is all the way to the baseboard and we will measure to the other baseboard So in this case, we've got sixteen feet

Then we want to write that down Sixteen feet And now if it comes out a little over or a little under, we want to make sure we write down the feet and the inches So we're up against the baseboard, and then we'll measure to the edge of the carpet and we got fourteen feet, seven inches So we write that down

Now with the seven inches, what we want to do is we want to calculate that as a percentage, so what we'll do is we'll take a seven, and divide that by twelve, 'cause there's twelve inches in a foot, and we'll end up with a point five-eight And what we'll do is we'll just round that off to point six, so we're going to use the length of, the length of this room as fourteen point six So now we can calculate that We can take fourteen point six, time sixteen, and just to make sure you don't have any errors, it's usually a good idea to round up to make sure you have enough So we come up with two-thirty-three point six, so again, we'll round up and we'll make that two-hundred and thirty-four square feet

So if we're buying carpet tiles, and they are a twelve inch or a thirteen inch, or sixteen inch, all the packaging will be based It will give you the square footage So if you have twenty-five square feet per box, then you're going to take the two-thirty-four, and divide that by twenty-five, and you would need nine point three boxes, so we would buy ten boxes of carpet tiles So just take your width, your length, multiply that together, get your square footage, and then divide that by the amount of square footage in each box, and you'll get the right amount of carpet tile every time I'm Tim Gipson and that's how to measure for carpet tiles
